Postcards
I got the mail today and in it were a couple of postcards for my kids. Both were from my brother. The writting was fine except the last line on each of them said the same thing "see you in a couple of weeks".
Oh my god! He is coming back to Maryland? Why? For how long? Doesn't he have court? Why hasn't he called me to tell me that he is planning this trip?
Then I think about what he told me before, he planned to come here and then travel down to visit dad in Florida. Dad is in a half-way house now (trying to quit drinking) and if Jayson goes down there and pulls him out of the program then what will happen to dad? I don't think it is a good idea for Jayson to go see dad now. Besides dad wants to come back here after he's done with the half-way house.
Hopefully Jayson has money to take care of himself with if/when he gets here. I decided a while back that he was old enough to take care of himself and that is what he has to learn to do and I don't mean living off borrowed money from friends and family. He needs to get a job and a car and a place to live on his own.
I heard that he was talking to his ex-girlfriend here again, maybe that is why he is coming back. I don't know why really he said he couldn't stand to be with her before and she had so many complaints about him too. Ah! what does it matter, as long as I don't have to give him money or a place to stay.
It's sad really because I love my brother a lot. I just can't keep taking care of him. Especially when he keeps getting himself into so much trouble. It drives me nuts already and he's nearly 2000 miles away. I guess it is just another fact of my family though, trouble comes with them, it follows where ever they go.
I guess I got lucky and didn't get that gene. I got into some trouble when I was a teenager but by the time I was 20 I realized that it wasn't worth it and straitened up quick. Then I got married and now I am happy with 2 kids and husband who loves me.
That's what I want for my brother except for the husband. I want him to see that screwing up is getting him no where. I hope that eventually he will find a nice girl that he won't use and settle down and have some kids (My kids need some cousins).
