An Open Letter to Apple, RE:iCal Portable/Newton 2.0
May husband has been making his voice heard to the masses about his wants and needs from Apple and Google but I thought I would take a shot and see if someone from the great people at Apple would hear my plea. I want a portable iCal. Not a complicated PDA, a portable iCal.
No more day planners and checking it with my Mac and the other 5 calendars that I have in the house. it would sync automatically with bluetooth. I could carry it from doctor to school to where ever and then bring it home and everything is the same. Included in my list of requests is a function that would allow me to sync my iCal with everyone in my house (my husband and the kids, so that I am not the only one who has to know when things are due and need to be done)
I imagine the look of the iPod only a little bigger screen with color. I want to view all of my current appointments in the same color categories the way they are in iCal now. It would need to have an alarm system that would sound the way that iCal does.
An additional feature, if you chose to add one could be an address book. This doesn't need to be a elaborate thing, just a calendar that would last forever and continue to sync with all of the family computers so that I never have to write down another date and time on the back of a receipt until I get home.
I know that I would pay a couple hundred dollars for something like this. Something that did all of the things that iCal does for me and keeps my whole family on the same schedule. The idea of never having to buy another calendar would just make me so happy.
But, it's up to you. I just have an idea that would work for me and my family, I really don't know how many other mothers struggle to keep track of kids days on and off of school and appointments as well as meetings with various other doctors and other important events.
So, if you could just look into it. I know (I've been told) that there are issues because of the problems with the Newton, but I think that the iPod look and feel really influences people, add a type pad and a little bit larger screen and you have the perfect simple PDA system. Don't fill it up with gadgets either. Make it simple. Simple is good, Apple is good, I love Apple. I love you!
Okay that last part was just to see if you were paying attention anymore. I will just say please and be done with it.
