Never Say Good-Bye?

It was a long time ago when I started noticing that on TV shows and Movies they never say good-bye or other similar farewell when hanging up from a phone call. At first I just thought it was odd but today I really wanted to figure out if there was a reason for it.

After doing a little research I found that I was not the only person that noticed this. I found this guy who actually tried to do it in real life with poor results. Just imagine what people would think if you didn't say good-bye or some other phrase to let them know that the conversation was over and that you were hanging up the phone on them.

So, is there a reason for this? Well, my guess is that it is a superstitious things that people in the entertainment industry believe in. Right now I am doing some research on it but I can't seem to find anything that really answers the question.

People I would like to be friends with

This is a list of the top 5 people that I would like to get to know in person. There are no restrictions on whether they are dead or alive.
  • John Lennon - I would have liked to learn from him
  • Matt Damon & Ben Afleck ( they count as one person because they are only really funny when they are together)
  • Robin Williams - He is just so naturally funny and fun
  • Will Smith - He seems very down to earth and fun
  • Angelia Jolie - She is such a caring person, and I would have a shot at talking to Brad Pitt too.

Because you had a Bad Day ...

OMG, America is full of stupid people! Oh wait I already knew that. But WTF! Ace was kicked off of American Idol tonight and they even cut his final farewell song off with the credits! He was the best thing they had going for that show, and Kelly Pickler made it into the top 3? How? She didn't listen to a damn thing that Rod Stewart had to tell her about her delivery of her song and it came off terrible in my opinion.

I thought for sure when they split them into the two groups that the group with Chris, Ace and Katharine were the top three. How could they do this to me? Now the only reason that I have left to watch the show is Chris. If he goes I go! I just want you to know that : the heads of American Idol, that don't even know who I am or even read this blog. I just had to get that out before I could sleep tonight. I hope the rest of you that voted for the pickler girl, who can't sing (or even speak english very well), are happy with yourselves. We lost the hottest guy on television. My husband will be happy now I guess.

For the LOST fans

4 8 15 16 23 42 815- The LOST Numbers Reference Guide - Season 1

- Charlie has a tattoo on his shoulder with the lyrics "living is easy with eyes closed". This is from The Beatles song Strawberry Fields Forever. The song Strawberry Fields Forever was released on The Beatles' 15th US CD and was track number 8. 8/15.

Some one took a lot of time to do this. I know I don't have that kind of patience. If you like lost you will certainly find this site amazing.

I'm a TV Watcher

I watch a lot of TV. Some good some bad, some really bad. In the summer you really have no choice but to watch really bad shows because there is nothing better on. Finally though the fall season has come and the only thing that is saving me from the terrible choices of which show to watch on which channel is that I have 2 TiVos in my house. I can watch Bones and Supernatural and still record the Amazing Race Family Edition at the same time. Plus, I can watch all of the network shows I want and still get the WPT and WSOP.

Supernatural

If you watch Supernatural you will love their website. I just spent about 45 minutes playing over there with all kinds of stuff. If you click on the doors you can get to the trunk, which gets you to the laptop, which you need a password for. If anyone can figure out the password please let me know.

John Lennon's Killer Denied Parole

lennon2.jpg

(Xinhuanet) -- The man who killed John Lennon 24 years ago has been denied parole for the third time on Tuesday in New York before Lennon's 64th birthday (Oct.9).

Mark David Chapman, 49, was notified of the decision after appearing before a three-member panel. The parole board made their decision because of the "the extreme malicious intent" Chapman showed when he shot Lennon.

Chapman shot and killed John Lennon, Beatles' key figure, in December of 1980. He is serving a prison sentence of 20 years to life at the Attica Correctional Facility near Buffalo, New York, and had been denied parole twice previously, in 2000 and 2002. Chapman's fourth chance to ask for freedom will be two years later.

SEX AND ROCK AND ROLL?

It looks like John Lydon ? a.k.a. Johnny Rotten of the Sex Pistols ? could be getting ready to die.

The snarling Pistols frontman has found his band among the 15 finalists for enshrinement in the 2005 class of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, an institution Lydon once declared to be a "place where old rockers go to die."

"The Rock and Roll Hall of Shame, that's what it ought to be," Lydon complained in 2003, after the Sex Pistols were denied entry for the second year in a row ? although contemporaries the Ramones and the Clash received nods. "[That] title was clearly earned."

The Daily Show

The Daily Show has entered into the real news recently by having guests like Bill Clinton and even John Kerry. It's sad that even though they preface all of their shows with statements about how it is a comedy show, it is the most real and accurate news show on television these days. Jon Stewart isn't afraid to ask the questions that we all wanna know and tells the viewing audience and the guests when things don't add up. Which is what I think we all are expect from the real news media, but it's surprising how little other news sources try to get the "real" information, or ask important questions.

From The Daily Show we get great quotes like:

This morning, prompted by increasing concerns about terrorism, oil prices reached a record high as the cost of a barrel of crude is a whooping $44.34. Wow, it seems shocking that a product of finite supply gets more expensive the more we use it. ... Now the terror alert means higher oil prices, which oddly enough means higher profits for oil companies giving them more money to give to politicians whose policies may favor the oil companies such as raising the terror alert level. As Simba once told us ? it's the circle of life.

And many more. If you go over to boingboing, you can see some of the election-time Daily Show clips.

Weekend Catchup

I really don't have much to say about today or this weekend. I got all of the copies of the movies that I ordered from Amazon and even though I did nothing all weekend I only watched OutFoxed and Unprecedented. I still have to watch the Uncovered, the truth behind the Iraq war. I really encourage all of you to check out these films, if you live near by you can borrow my copy. If you don't I have seen a copy of OutFoxed at Hollywood video, that is if you are too cheap to buy it. I think I may write more about each of the movies later but it is too late tonight.

However, I should really get on to other topics that are less related to politics. The difficulty is that I have spent most of this weekend getting depressed about the state of the world and what it might become. Some people don't realize just how strongly this effects me on the inside as will as on the outside. I wonder how different I am from others out there.

I ask this because I have read that people against Bush are suffering from stress overload now days and that it is becoming an epidemic.

The IPod

ipod.gif
I got an early birthday present today. I just couldn't wait. I mean when you have a car that has a AUX in jack you NEED to have an IPod right? Yeah, my husband has one that we were suppose to share but that didn't turn out too well. I am sooo happy with it, it is sooo pretty and it works sooo well. I wouldn't have bought any of those other crappy MP3 players they sell. Needless to say I got the 20GB and he has the old 15GB one. Not that I will ever possibly be able to use up the whole 20GB with songs. However, I am well on my way.

In an effort not to be copying my darling husband I would like to ask for some music suggestions. I will warn you that I have a very particular taste in music. I like a lot of punk and what I guess would be called folk music too. I enjoy listening to alternative music as well.

Vibrators and hand guns

helloburu_small.gifCan there really be a place in this world that would legalize guns and ban sex toys? How about in this country? I am posting this info for the rest of you because this link was emailed to me this afternoon. I found it very disturbing.

A decision issued yesterday by the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals says Alabama doesn't have to lift its silly, arcane 1998 law banning the sale of sex toys. The Constitution does not include a right to sexual privacy, the panel of three judges ruled. Many Americans would disagree, including this one. To paraphrase Andrew Orlowski's brilliant quip about the INDUCE Act, under this law one could stroll down Alabama's southern streets selling semiautomatic rifles and dildos, and be arrested for the dildos.

Alabama's Anti-Obscenity Enforcement Act prohibits, among other things, the commercial distribution of 'any device designed or marketed as useful primarily for the stimulation of human genital organs for any thing of pecuniary value

I never heard of anyone dieing from an orgasm.

Movies to buy

ofx_poster.jpg
Outfoxed examines how media empires, led by Rupert Murdoch's Fox News, have been running a "race to the bottom" in television news. This film provides an in-depth look at Fox News and the dangers of ever-enlarging corporations taking control of the public's right to know.

This documentary also reveals the secrets of Former Fox news producers, reporters, bookers and writers who expose what it's like to work for Fox News. These former Fox employees talk about how they were forced to push a "right-wing" point of view or risk their jobs. Some have even chosen to remain anonymous in order to protect their current livelihoods. As one employee said "There's no sense of integrity as far as having a line that can't be crossed."

Things you should be watching

Again I have been in bed for awhile with nothing to do but watch TV so I have some personal opinions for killing time when you can't get out of bed or off the sofa.

Right now the Poker shows are on the top of my list for things to watch at night. Celebrity poker showdown is a great show on bravo. Then there is the W.S.O.P. which is very fun to watch.

A few of of the other things that I like to watch are Last Comic Standing, Next Action Star, Big Brother 5, The Amazing Race. As you can see that I have really gotten into watching these reality shows, but what else is on TV now days?

On top of these this there are teo shows I like to watch on the Food Network, Iron Chef and Good Eats also, Iron Chef America.

I am only writing all of this stuff because I have nothing better to write about.

Defeat Bush the Game

I found this great game while stuck in my bed. The game itself is really fun but the most interesting thing about the game is the amount of details and information that the game developer put into the creation of it. The game allows you to play as characters like Hulk Hogan, Michael Moore and He-Man and more! If you have an hour to spend reading up on the Bush administration and you want to do it in a fun way go here.

Fahrenheit 911 - review

I was finally able to download and view the movie and I have got to say that I can't see how anyone who sees the film could still believe that G.W. should be re-elected in November after all the lies and other things that he has done during his reign. In the film Michael Moore does something that he hasn't done in the previous movies, he doesn't show his face except in a minimal amount of shots. a lot of the file is made up of interviews done with members of the military, dead soldiers families and government officials and of course clips of GW as himself. The film does nothing more than show the contradictions in he comments made by this government and the effects that the lies they have made had on the country and other countries.

Of course we all knew that I was on the side of voting Bush out of the white house on the next election but after watching this film I can believe that anyone would vote for him at all. I feel that I have to do some to make others aware of the things that the media has not made wide public. People can try to say that MM made this stuff up, but the entire film is made up mostly by clips of news briefings and film taken on the battle Field with the young men and women fighting and dieing for a war that should never have happened.

I love MM. I love his work and I think that everyone who has the ability to see this movie, no matter what your views are, should see this movie. I can almost guarantee that you will be voting against Bush in the next election after seeing it.

Talking about sex, late at night

It is late at night and I have nothing to do but sit here in bed and watch Sunday night sex talk with Sue. This show can be very funny at times. It's amazing some of the questions that people ask on this show. She even has a website that is suppose to be very informative. The commercials for climatic every five minutes are quite amusing as well. I guess it's better than watching the commercials for sex phone lines on other channels this time of the night. Sue actually answers some very important questions for people who don't know a damn thing about sex. Sue is an older lady which makes the whole thing kind of funny to watch, not to mention the questions that are asked. The show airs on my cable network on the Oxygen network several nights a week. (You'll notice that its Saturday night and its on). If you want a good laugh with some friends, alone or need some information you should have a look at this show. It could really just be my sleeping pills talking.

Free Micheal Moore Movie

I don't agree with the site that posted the links but if you wanna see F911 you can download it (after several hours) by following the links on this site. I am still waiting for it to download it myself but after hearing even some of the interviews and reviews I am sure that it is worth waiting for. Your probably asking why I am not going to see the film in the theater if I like MM so much. Well, my agoraphobia keeps me from going to functions that are crowded like theaters and malls. And it seems that honestly MM doesn't mind his film being released on the web for free. So, if you have some time check it out.

Fahrenheit 911

Disney is Forbidding Distribution of Film That Criticizes Bush. It's the newest film by Micheal Moore.

"The film, "Fahrenheit 911," links Mr. Bush and prominent Saudis ? including the family of Osama bin Laden ? and criticizes Mr. Bush's actions before and after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks."

"Disney, which bought Miramax more than a decade ago, has a contractual agreement with the Miramax principals, Bob and Harvey Weinstein, allowing it to prevent the company from distributing films under certain circumstances, like an excessive budget or an NC-17 rating."

"A senior Disney executive elaborated that the company had the right to quash Miramax's distribution of films if it deemed their distribution to be against the interests of the company. The executive said Mr. Moore's film is deemed to be against Disney's interests not because of the company's business dealings with the government but because Disney caters to families of all political stripes and believes Mr. Moore's film, which does not have a release date, could alienate many."

Prey for Rock and Roll

ginapillow.jpg

I got rocked by Gina Gershon. I know what you are thinking, but that's not what I am talking about. I watched her latest movie "Prey for Rock and Roll" and I was impressed. I had been watching the documentary on IFC for the last couple of weeks so I had to give the movie a try. You should too.

It's not just a movie about the troubles of trying to overcome the obstacles of the music industry on punk rock and rock and roll. There are some serious statements made in this movie that I have never seen covered so well in a movie before. I would try to explain these things but i think it is best if you just watch the movie yourself.

Return of the Survivors

PREMIERES SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 1, AFTER SUPER BOWL XXXVIII"

Will you be watching? I have watched just about every season of survivor, and I have been disappointed with the winner of all but the first one. Richard Hatch is the only one who deserved to win the million dollars, except maybe the very last season...but I forgot her name. (Tina, Lisa,?)
