Someone Tells The Truth

This was posted by a friend of mine and I thought I would pass it on to more of you. I watched this video and I was really impressed with the honesty on a national news channel (MSNBC). I am actually thinking about setting up a season pass for Keith Olbermann's show on my Tivo.

This one report really says more then any episode of "The Daily Show" I have ever seen. I am happy to see a news anchor really speak the truth and call the president out for all the stuff that is going on. You should really take a look at it. And I am putting it right here on my blog so that you don't have to follow any links to get to it.

Hope you enjoyed the show. Maybe it will give you hope or open your eyes. Either way, I have done my good deed for the day.

My View

I didn't get to watch this when it came on TV but I rushed to YouTube.com as soon as I heard about what was going on and I have to tell you I am on Rosie's side of things. I have a feeling that the fact the she is a lesbian just gives the republican party more ammo to throw at her. Watch it and tell me what you think.

If you want the real news check out BBCnews.com. You will get the real stories and see why the rest of the globe thinks we are idiots. Just some advice for some of you. And you know who you are. I don't have to list names. The rest of you, congratulations for actually researching stuff before you speak.

And here is another clip where Fox news is completely making shit up to get Rosie off the airwaves:

We need a 24/7 Daily Show channel, they seem to be the only place you can get real news (even though they say they are joking), more an more people are saying that is where they get their news from on a daily basis and their viewers are smarter about world events then those that watch Fox News according to a study done in 2003.

The whole world would be a better place if everyone actually researched stuff before they ramble on about stuff they know nothing but what has been fed to them. Think before you speak.

Things to remember

America Remembers Again 9/6/06

I haven't been talking about politics much lately but this one I just had to share. Did anyone catch the clip on the daily show with Bush saying Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11?

November 03, 2004

Sick!

I am moving to France, maybe London. I always had a thing for a British accent. Just for a few years maybe.

In honesty, I just feel so frustrated now. I know I have friends who are saying "I told you so" but that doesn't bother me as much as the fact that people voted for Bush not based on what he has done but for the fact that he says he will ban gay marriage and possibly abortion. I believe the number was close to 79% for "Moral Values" votes for Bush, which was 22% of the total votes. The second rated topic for Bush was Terrorism (Fear) with 19% of the voters voting for Bush 86%.The way I see it, if 9/11 had never happened George Bush would not have been able to scare people into voting for a war and then into voting for him because they were afraid, just a side thought.

My intention was to completely change the format of my site after the election, change to a less stressful topic of discussion. I think I will state to focus more on Entertainment and other news but while Bush is still in office I am sure I will have more political posts. The stress of the last year has just driven me mad with frustration at this administration, and I have decided that this election may be over but 2008 I will become a volunteer wherever I can. I will not let the republicans control my rights as a woman or of the people around me, they are much too selfish for that.

So, there will be less politics here at FreshCaffeine and I will try to calm myself now with a nice relaxing bath.

Allegheny, PA

This Flier was sent out in an effort to keep some democrats from voting on November 2nd.

The letter claims that because of the "immense voter turnout that is expected...Pennsylvania has requested an extended voting period". One which would allow Republicans would vote on Nov. 2 and Democrats would vote on Nov. 3.

Milwaukee Voter Suppression

This flyer, distributed around Milwaukee's African American communities, claims to include "some warnings for election time." Among the warnings:

* If you?ve already voted in any election this year you can?t vote in the presidential election.
* If you?ve ever been guilty of anything, even a traffic violation, you can?t vote in the presidential election.
* If anybody in your family has ever been found guilty (sic) of anything you can?t vote in the presidential election.
* If you violate any of these laws, you can get ten years in prison and your children will get taken away from you.
The daily Kos

New Mexico: Eight people turned away

From Mike Miller at Valley High School in the North Valley, Albuquerque:

Eight people have been turned away so far because they were at the wrong precinct. Judges did not give them provisional ballots, we're not sure yet why. Democratic lawyers and MoveOn workers are on site.

One voter turned away had received a call from the GOP telling him this was where he was supposed to vote. He said his name is Frank Sandoval, that he is a Republican himself, it's not his first election, but he said he didn't know why he was given the wrong address. He said he thought it was a joke.

The odds are the Republicans didn't know Sandoval was a Republican. They are just phone-banking Democratic neighborhoods with bad voting
locations.

Problems Plague Some Polling Places

Elections Director Jackie McDaniel says an election judge left a polling place at Sandalwood Elementary School in Essex (Maryland), saying he forgot something at home.

When he returned, he was fired over the phone.

McDaniel says voters who had to wait were allowed to vote by provisional ballot.

Other problems around the area range from missing keys to inoperable machines to a lack of extension cords.

An election watcher's guide to the vote

"Now that Election Day is finally here, the results of the longest presidential contest in history will soon be known. Unless, of course, the counting is just beginning. In 2000, it took 36 days before George W. Bush was judged the winner."

Election Day Eve

Don't forget to get out there tomorrow people. This is a very important election. As the bumper sticker says "If you don't vote, you can't bitch". I am not going to make this about who to vote for, okay maybe I will make a few points. It's a big day though and every able bodied person should be out there making a choice that will better their future and the future of America. At 7 am I will be attempting to vote for John Kerry, if all goes well I will be able to do that without a problem.

I have friends who say they will be voting for Bush and I find it very sad. I don't want to argue with them, but I want to make them understand the flaw in their thought. For instance, by re-electing Bush the special school that my autistic son goes to will be shut down because of the underfunding that Bush intends and the programs that currently help my son to get treatment at a special hospital will be canceled. Without these programs my son and others like him would probably never be able to enter into the regular school system and integrate into society. So, when they say "no child left behind" they are forgetting about mine and thousands of others with disabilities and behavior problems that traditional schools can't teach as well as special schools.

I have to go off to bed now because I have to get to bed because I have to get sleep so I can wake up early in the morning. I just want to remind everyone to vote, no matter who you are voting for. It's important. Just think hard about what your doing before you make your choice. It effects us all!

1000 Reasons not to vote for Bush

The president and attorney general, from their first days in office, have pursued secrecy and restrictions on civil liberties. The terror attacks gave them a new rationale -- national security.

Three years later, the landscape of American liberties stands profoundly altered. The Patriot Act gives the government unprecedented new powers to snoop and arrest. Incorporated almost verbatim into the law's 300 pages are wish lists that prosecutors drafted long before the attacks. Los Angeles Times Friday September 10, 2004

The world wants President Bush out of the White House, according to a poll released on Wednesday that shows in 30 of 35 countries people preferred Democrat candidate John Kerry.

Kerry was particularly favored in traditionally strong U.S. allies and beat Bush on average by more than a two-to-one margin, 46 percent to 20 percent, the survey by GlobeScan Inc, a global research firm, and the University of Maryland, said. Yahoo News Wednesday September 08, 2004

The White House blocked a congressional investigation into alleged links between the Saudi government and two September 11, 2001, hijackers, a top US senator wrote in a book.

Florida Senator Bob Graham, the Democrat who co-chaired Congress's probe into the September 11 attacks, wrote that Saudi government agents were part of a support network in the United States for two hijackers who took part in the devastating strikes, the Miami Herald reported Sunday.

But President George W. Bush's administration and the Federal Bureau of Investigation blocked Congress's investigation into the alleged ties, Graham wrote in "Intelligence Matters," a copy of which the Herald obtained. Yahoo News Sunday September 05, 2004

Reasons # 21 - 25

21. LIE: "We'll fulfill our promise that no child will be left behind in America." GWB, 9/9/03.
TRUTH : One in six U.S. children lives in poverty, and in the past two years under Bush, 500,000 more kids were forced onto the poverty rolls. Children's Defense Fund, 9/26/03.
22. LIE : "My plan will reduce tax rates for everyone who pays income tax." GWB, 4/26/03.
TRUTH : Under Bush's proposal, over 8 million taxpayers would have received no tax cut whatsoever. Tax Policy Center, 5/30/03.
23. LIE: "My Clear Skies legislation will reduce smog and mercury emissions, as well as stop acid rain." GWB, 4/22/02.
TRUTH : Bush's plan allows the release of millions of additional tons of mercury and acid-rain-producing sulfur dioxide per year. Natural Resources Defense Council, 2/27/03.
24. LIE: "The states can do whatever they want about [gay marriage]." GWB, 2/25/00.
TRUTH: Bush has now called for a constitutional amendment prohibiting states from setting their own policies in this regard.
25. LIE: "We must uncover every detail and learn every lesson from Sept. 11." GWB, 11/27/02.
TRUTH: Bush opposed and later stonewalled the bipartisan independent investigation into 9/11. Washington Post, 2/05/04.

Reasons # 16 - 20

16. "Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we," August 4, 2004
17. "In an economic recession, I'd rather that in order to get out of this recession, that the people be spending their money, not the government trying to figure out how to spend the people's money."?Tampa, Fla., Feb. 16, 2004
18. "The recession started upon my arrival. t could have been?some say February, some say March, some speculate maybe earlier it started?but nevertheless, it happened as we showed up here. The attacks on our country affected our economy. Corporate scandals affected the confidence of people and therefore affected the economy. My decision on Iraq, this kind of march to war, affected the economy."?Meet the Press, Feb. 8, 2004
19. "The ambassador and the general were briefing me on the?the vast majority of Iraqis want to live in a peaceful, free world. And we will find these people and we will bring them to justice."?Washington, D.C., Oct. 27, 2003
20. "Washington is a town where there's all kinds of allegations. You've heard much of the allegations. And if people have got solid information, please come forward with it. And that would be people inside the information who are the so-called anonymous sources, or people outside the information?outside the administration."?Chicago, Sept. 30, 2003

His own words are enough.

October 11, 2004

Reasons # 11 - 15

11. Bush declared to NBC?s Meet the Press that he was a war president, and he meant it. Though he has failed to bring Osama Bin Laden to justice as he promised, he has definitely made impacts on wars. He?s broken more international treaties than any other president.
12. He also presided over the highest gas prices in history, a problem that affected almost every American. But Bush?s Cabinet benefited economically during his term. The 16 members of his cabinet are the richest of any administration in U.S. history. The poorest millionaire of the Cabinet, Condoleezza Rice, has a Chevron oil tanker named after her.
13. He set the record for the fewest press conferences of any president since the advent of the television.
14. Bush hasn?t done anything for minorities, let alone people in poverty.
15. Though he garnered the most sympathy for the U.S. after the September 11th attacks, less than a year later he made the U.S. the most hated country in the world, the largest failure of diplomacy in world history.

(Info Here)

October 10, 2004

Reasons # 6-10

6. Failing to build a real international coalition prior to the Iraq invasion, forcing the US to shoulder the full cost and consequences of the war.
7. Making a case for war, which ignored intelligence that there were no Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq.
8. Failing to give UN weapons inspectors enough time to certify if weapons existed in Iraq.
9. Announcing ?major combat operations in Iraq have ended? on May 1, 2003?more US soldiers have died in combat since that announcement than before it.
10. Approving the demobilization of the Iraq Army in May 2003- bypassing the Joint Chiefs of Staff and reversing an earlier position, the President left hundreds of thousands of armed Iraqis disgruntled and unemployed, contributing significantly to the massive security problems American troops have faced during occupation.

Reasons not to vote for Bush # 1 - 5

I thought I would start a series of articles that point out exactly why you shouldn't vote for Bush in November and here are the first 5:

1. Shattered the record for the biggest annual deficit in history. (Info Here)
2. Spent about 42 percent of his presidency on vacation, as a wartime president. (Info Here and Here)
3. The first president in US history to order a US attack AND military occupation of a sovereign nation, and did so against the will of the United Nations and the vast majority of the international community. (Info Here)
4. Under-funding the ?No Child Left Behind Act? and trying to use it to boost his resume by lying about the figures. (Info Here)
5. Signing a report endorsing outsourcing with thousands of American workers having their jobs shipped overseas. While claiming that he is trying to improve employment here in America. (Info Here)

I will continue to post 5 new reasons each day until the elections. I hope that these will enlighten some of you who are "on the fence" or even considering Bush for President again. At least follow the links and start forming a better opinion based on the facts.

Vice Presidents Debate

Cheney-Edwards.jpg

"Cheney wrongly implied that FactCheck had defended his tenure as CEO of Halliburton Co., and the vice president even got our name wrong. He overstated matters when he said Edwards voted "for the war" and "to commit the troops, to send them to war." He exaggerated the number of times Kerry has voted to raise taxes, and puffed up the number of small business owners who would see a tax increase under Kerry's proposals.

Cheney got our domain name wrong -- calling us "FactCheck.com (which takes you to georgesoros.com)" -- and wrongly implied that we had rebutted allegations Edwards was making about what Cheney had done as chief executive officer of Halliburton.

Cheney repeatedly said Edwards had voted "for the war" and "to commit the troops," when in fact the Iraq resolution that both Kerry and Edwards supported left the decision to the president and called for intensified diplomacy."

Kerry's pen, Bush's Cheat sheet

cheat2.jpg

It appears that while FoxNews' Matt Drudge has been making a big deal about Kerry pulling something out of his pocket during the debate. They even have been airing a clip to show the magical moment. Mistakenly they have also been showing their viewers that Bush pulls out a cheat sheet and lays it down on the podium. In one shot you can even see that there is a neatly typed page sitting in front of the president. More close-ups are available. So whats on the pages...

More on Voting

KerryBush.jpg
After looking over the latest polls I see that there is much more work to be done. First it is important to know where the swing states are, and if you are in one. However, just because your not in one doesn't mean you don't have to get out and vote on November 2nd. We all have a responsibility to vote, to ourselves and our families. It's not too late in most states to register to vote.

It is important to know who the the candidates are in your area. Following that it would be important to see how the elections can effect the states that you live in. For instance the See where G. Bush and J. Kerry stand on Guns in America. While your at it why not read what John Kerry and George Bush have to had to say on all the topics.

Don't forget to watch the debates!

Vote People!

Where to begin? First find out the deadline for registering to vote in your state. Then Register using an online service. After that you will need to find out where to go to vote. And I wouldn't leave you out on a limb without telling you how to find the who the candidates are and who you should be voting for. Maybe a little bit about the presidential hopefuls John Kerry and George W. Bush as well and where they stand on certain issues. You might also want to know the difference between a Democrat and a republican.

I will write more later.

A moment of pause

I found this article that was written by John Tierney of the New York Times (you may have to register to read it). Some of the main things that I want to point out are:

ANOTHER gender gap has appeared, this time on a poll testing men's and women's knowledge of issues in the presidential campaign. On the eight-question quiz administered to 1,845 adults, men were more likely on every question to give the right answer.

The biggest gender gap was on the question asking which candidate supported moving American troops from Europe and South Korea to other places. Sixty percent of the men correctly identified President Bush, versus 43 percent of the women. There were also double-digit gaps on questions about Social Security and taxes.

Even odder, perhaps, was the gender gap on a question in the Times poll asking whether Saddam Hussein was personally involved in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Twenty-nine percent of men said he was, versus 47 percent women, putting them 18 points ahead - or maybe that should be considered behind.

The explanation of this given by the reporter is that men like to watch sports and therefore are more interested in this election as apposed to others that women might be more tuned into. Whatever the reason something has to be done here.

Did Bush camp err on ballot papers?

Florida state law sets a Sept. 1 deadline for the governor to certify a list of presidential electors for each party's candidates.

But Sept. 1 was also the day President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney were being nominated at their party' convention in New York. Consequently, some of their paperwork did not arrive at state elections headquarters until Sept. 2, a day after Gov. Jeb Bush certified the candidates for president.

From Moore to Bush

I subscribe to the Micheal Moore mailing list and I received an email yesterday that I thought I would share with the rest of you. Mostly because I have nothing else to write about today.

Dear Mr. Bush,

I know you and I have had our differences in the past, and I realize I am the one who started this whole mess about "who did what" during Vietnam when I brought up that "deserter" nonsense back in January. But I have to hand it to you on what you have uncovered about John Kerry and his record in Vietnam. Kerry has tried to pass himself off as a war hero, but thanks to you and your friends, we now know the truth.

First of all, thank you for pointing out to all of us that Mr. Kerry was never struck by a BULLET. It was only SHRAPNEL that entered his body! I did not know that! Hell, what's the big deal about a bunch of large, sharp, metal shards ripping open your flesh? That happens to all of us! In my opinion, if you want a purple heart, you'd better be hit with a bullet -- with your name on it!

Kerry responds to Bush and Cheney

Senator John Kerry lashed back at President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney tonight, saying that he would not remain quiet while his patriotism was being questioned by men who had not served in Vietnam and who had ``misled the nation into Iraq.''

For the past week, they attacked my patriotism and my fitness to serve as commander in chief,'' Mr. Kerry said. ``Well, here's my answer. I'm not going to have my commitment to defend this country questioned by those who refused to serve when they could have and by those who have misled the nation into Iraq.
Mr. Bush served in the Texas Air National Guard during the Vietnam era and did not go to war. Mr. Cheney obtained draft deferments, later saying that he had ``other priorities'' at the time. Mr. Kerry volunteered for two tours of duty in Vietnam, one aboard a ship offshore and the other commanding a gunboat in the Mekong Delta for four months, receiving a Silver Star, Bronze Star and three Purple Hearts for heroism and wounds received in combat. "Jobs Growth Plan"

Job growth has stalled in the last two months. Payroll jobs increased by only 78,000 in June and a meager 32,000 in July, after rising 295,000 a month the previous three months. The Bush Administration called the tax cut package, which was passed in May 2003 and took effect in July 2003, its "Jobs and Growth Plan." The president's economics staff, the Council of Economic Advisers, projected that the plan would result in the creation of 5.5 million jobs by the end of 2004?306,000 new jobs each month starting in July 2003. The CEA projected that the economy would generate 228,000 jobs a month without a tax cut and 306,000 jobs a month with the tax cut. Thus, it projected that 3,978,000 jobs would be created over the last 13 months. In reality, since the tax cuts took effect, there are 2,565,000 fewer jobs than the administration projected would be created by enactment of its tax cuts. Job creation failed to meet the administration's projections in 11 of the past 13 months.

One Presidents son on another

The case against George W. Bush. The son of the fortieth president of the United States takes a hard look at the son of the forty-first and does not like what he sees.

Politicians will stretch the truth. They'll exaggerate their accomplishments, paper over their gaffes. Spin has long been the lingua franca of the political realm. But George W. Bush and his administration have taken "normal" mendacity to a startling new level far beyond lies of convenience. On top of the usual massaging of public perception, they traffic in big lies, indulge in any number of symptomatic small lies, and, ultimately, have come to embody dishonesty itself. They are a lie. And people, finally, have started catching on.

Political Polls

According to the ICQ poll 68% of the 2892 people polled voted for John Kerry, only 24% voted for George Bush.

The latest Rasmussen Reports Presidential Tracking Poll shows Senator John Kerry with 49% of the vote and President George W. Bush with 45%.

Almost half of likely voters according to CNN, 49 percent, favored Kerry and 47 percent supported Bush. The difference was well within the margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.

CBSNews has Kerry holding 48% of the votes and George Bush with only 43%.

According to FoxNews Bush and Kerry are tied at 42% each. (Kind of interesting that everyone but fox says that Kerry is in the lead.)

Who would Jesus torture?

I found this great article on the web that I thought you all should read. I am not much of a religious person myself, but as this writer points out neither is George Bush and his regime.

"According to childhood friends, Bush used to blow up frogs with firecrackers and shoot them with BB guns. As several therapists have pointed out, this cruelty to animals is a trait he shares with many serial killers."

"It certainly is remarkable that such an insipid, callow, little man like George W. Bush, who has slaughtered thousands of innocent civilians as surely as if he pulled the trigger himself, can be described as deeply religious by one of America's most mainstream magazines with no sense of irony. American lemmings are now so brain washed that they believe this war criminal is a man of God. It would seem that the God he worships is really the Viking god of war, Thor, with his thunder of ongoing, preemptive "Shock and Awe" extending as far as the eye can see into our future."

Bush vs. Bush

I don't normally watch the daily show but i found a link to something that I thought you all would find interesting and funny. Sad, but true. Here you go. (Check out Bush vs. Bush)

Kerry, an honest politician?

John Kerry (presidential candidate for those who don't know) is being asked to apologize to the GOP for comments he made last night about the Bushies.

"We have a president who seems content to see the quality of life in America go back wards, not forwards," Kerry said. "I'm not. ... Americans watch this White House waste their tax dollars in some cases and give those who cut corners and break laws special benefits, while those who do what's right get the short end of the stick."

What's wrong with the media?

Did anyone notice the media reports involving George Tenet and the Bush administration are coming out differently from different news sources? I did my usual Google news search and found that there were headings ranging from "CIA's Tenet Defends White House on Iraq" to "C.I.A. Chief Says He's Corrected Cheney Privately" or how about "CIA: Pentagon lied in run-up to war"? I thought it was very interesting how easy it was to make a report swing your way by leaving out important information and comments. Comments made by Tenet were cut down to "I engage with them every day,'' ?"If there are areas where I thought someone said something they shouldn't say, I talk to them about it.'' In articles that state the CIA defends the administration.

I would post links to this stuff but unless you go to these sites directly through Google you will have to get an account first.

Let's give them a turn

story.same.sex.ap.jpg I don't know how many of you were in the middle of your courtroom TV shows this morning, when they were rudely interrupted by this guy. Not a great start to my day to say the least. Then to have him say that he is now going to fight to change the constitution because he doesn't like that gays are getting a chance to marry is just absurd. What is the big deal? What is it hurting? I mean you hear some of the wackos saying that it "ruins the sanctity of marriage", but doesn't divorce do that?

Don't we have more important things going on in this country for him to worry about besides the definition of marraige? I mean there are people dying in iraq for the oil he wants so badly and children who are starving right here in our own country. Not to mention eduational boards that can't afford to pay their teachers and many other serious problems like housing issues and domestic violence, these things did not go away suddenly.

If you feel you would like to contribute to making the administration focus on the real matters of the world, or you just want to show your support for the gays and lesbians visit this site and make a donation or you can purchase a tee-shirt.
